Boca Raton, FL – Earlier this week, Nathan Nieves, a SLAM Boca high school senior, received a bachelor's in Elementary Education from Doral College. Surrounded by other students enrolled in the college’s dual enrollment program, the 17-year-old proudly walked his college commencement ceremony – days before his high school graduation.

Nathan took full advantage of SLAM Boca’s dual enrollment program and surpassed everyone’s expectations. Additionally, Nathan took and passed all professional exams as a requirement to hold a teaching certificate. At the SLAM Boca graduation this Friday, eight seniors will graduate having earned an associate / 2-year college degree, but Nathan is the first high school student to complete the Doral College program having earned enough credits for a bachelor's degree.

One of five siblings, Nathan’s Cuban-American mother is the one who pushed them all to “do great things” he said. It was her idea to enroll him at SLAM Boca where he would be challenged academically and be able to take college courses to advance his studies. In addition to earning his bachelor’s degree, he founded the E-sports team at SLAM Boca, and is a member of multiple honor societies and clubs. In the fall, Nathan will begin pursuing an MBA at Florida International University and has also been offered a teaching position at SLAM Boca.
